In-Tank Eductors

Designed for "in-tank" applications, Tank Liquid Agitators (TLAs), efficiently use the supplied energy for mixing, blending, heating, aeration, or solid suspension as required.

The Jacoby-Tarbox Tank Liquid Agitator (JT TLA) is an eductor designed for “in-tank” applications.  The TLA operates on the principle of flow dynamics.  Pressurized fluid is accelerated through the nozzle to become a high velocity stream that entrains tank contents and intimately mixes with them.  This combined stream exits the TLA at a high velocity creating a flow field capable of causing additional agitation and mixing the tank contents.

The Jacoby-Tarbox TLA’s motive fluid may come from two sources.  The tank liquid may be recirculated through the eductor via an external pump or a secondary fluid may be introduced into the tank. Gasses, as well as liquids, are used as the secondary fluid.  Aeration and gas dispersion for chemical reactions are common uses of gas motive systems.  Liquids are typically additives to be mixed with or to dilute the tank contents.

Jacoby-Tarbox In-Tank Applications

Features:

• Computer optimized flow paths enable the JT TLA to maintain a high “pick-up ratio” (the ratio of fluid entrained to the motive fluid) while maximizing the hydraulic efficiency (the ratio of hydraulic power at the outlet of the TLA to the hydraulic power at the inlet) to generate an optimum flow field from the greatest flow amplification.

• Optimum flow field enables more activity within the tank than competitive units without changing pumps.

• The TLA can be used in a wide variety of open vessels or closed tanks.
• Compact design and east of counting keeps the TLA from interfering with other tank equipment.
• “In-tank” mounting eliminates need for costly, complex mounting structures above tanks.
• No moving parts in the eductor, minimizing maintenance expenses.
• Eliminates stratification and promotes a homogenous tank with relation to pH, temperature, solids or gas dispersion, and distribution of chemicals.
• Produces a unique agitation not available with other types of mixers, as the TLA can generate a directed flow, field within the fluid being mixed including viscous fluids, slurries, and suspensions.
• Easily mixes liquids of differing specific gravities and its excellent for scrubbing applications where a lower specific gravity fluid is driven into the higher one.
• Flow amplification due to high “pick-up ration” and hydraulic efficiency permits the use of smaller pumps, which translates to reduced costs of mixing or agitation.
• Reduces investment cost because existing transfer pumps can be utilized for more than one purpose.
• Excellent for heating tank contents in steam applications.

Specifications:

• Standard materials TLA’s are cast or fabricated in: bronze, 316 stainless and carbon steel.  Cast units range from IPS 3/8″ to 3″.  Larger sizes and other materials are fabricated. Consult the factory for details.

• Standard body connection for 3/8 and 3/4 units is male NPT and for 1-1/2 through 3, female NPT.  Optional connections include female/male NPT, butt weld, socket weld, and flanged.

Inline Jet Pump

In-Line Eductors

Jacoby-Tarbox In-Line Eductors are the Next Generation of jet pumps, ejectors, and venturi pumps, providing in-line mixing, pumping, or heating in various process lines. Eductors decrease costs as there are no moving parts and require no direct power.

Inline Jacoby-Eductor Models:

Liquid Motive:

SL = Low Head and 15-250 PSI motive pressure

ML = Medium Head and 15-250 PSI motive pressure

HL = High Head and 15-250 PSI motive pressure

Gas Motive:

SG = Low Head and 30-150 steam motive pressure

HG = High Head and 20-150 steam motive pressure

How Eductors Work

Jacoby-Eductor eductor pump that uses a fluid to perform the work of pumping another fluid (or solid).  The fluid doing the work is termed the motive fluid, and the fluid being pumped is the suction fluid.  The motive fluid employed can be liquid, gas or steam.  The suction fluid can be liquid, gas or steam.  Other names for eductors include jet pumps, ejectors, venture pumps, siphon pumps, steam siphons, and injector pumps.  Eductors operate on basic principles of flow dynamics that have been known since the times of the ancient Greeks.  What makes the Eductors superior is the way advanced computer modeling has been used to maximize efficiency.  This same computer modeling allows Clark-Reliance to simulate your process needs and recommend the correct product every time.

Operation Is As Follows:

1. The pressurized motive fluid enters the eductor through the motive inlet and enters the nozzle.  The nozzle causes the motive entering to accelerate as it passes through the converging portion of the nozzle.  The nozzle is of the converging type if the motive is a liquid, or of the expanding type if the motive is gas or steam.
2. The suction chamber is where the pumping takes place.  As the accelerated motive leaves the nozzle, the friction between it and the material in the suction chamber forces the mixture into the diffuser section lowering the pressure in the chamber and pulling additional material in from the suction inlet.
3. The motive fluid entrains the suction media to produce a uniformly mixed stream traveling at a lower velocity.  The mixing tube in Eductors is amply sized to allow sufficient time for the two streams to mix completely.
4. The diffuser is specially shaped to reduce the velocity of the mixture still further, converting the kinetic energy to pressure at discharge.

Typical Liquid Motive Applications are :

Pump from Tank; Pump from Sump; Dilute in Line; Transport Liquid

Typical Gas Motive Applications are :

Pump from Tank; Pump from Sump; Heat Liquid; Prime Pumps; Evacuate Liquid

Sizing of a jet pump (eductor) is important with the motive pressure having enough power to support the suction vacuum and still discharge the converged media. Too little motive or too high of suction requirement will choke the jet pump.

The Jacoby-Eductor eductors or jet pump come int he following sizes:

1/2 Inch, 3/4 inch, 1 inch, 1.25 inch, 1.5 inch, 2 inch, 2.5 inch and 3 inch.

Note the suction and discharge are the the Jet size dimention.  A 1 inch eductor has 1" suction and outlet NPT threads.  The inlet is smaller and can have different NPT sizes dependant the model chosen.  Threads are Male NPT threads.

COAX Water Hammer valves

 Coax valves  solve water hammer

co-ax® 5-PCS-1 10  valve

This manufacturer of precision - forged drive components for automotive and off - highway vehicles needed a low profile and no-nonsense valve for its forging operations. The customized forging tools they use are lubricated with a proprietary water and graphite mixture. The lubricant is perfect for this forging process but because of the entrained and abrasive solids, finding the right valve was an adventure. Earlier solutions like a diaphragm valve didn’t work at all. The valve often plugged up. Or, the diaphragm cracked and the valve failed, sometimes after just 15 cycles.

Other valves caused excessive water hammer and failed prematurely.

The co-ax valves aren’t cheap, but even more expensive is the downtime and unnecessary maintenance on the capital equipment at the heart of this forging process. The co-ax® 5-PCS-1 10 valve performs as promised, cycling every 2 seconds like clockwork, admitting the precise dose of customized lubricant each time. This valve gets noticed a whole lot less than other valve technologies. In fact the co-ax® poppet technology has been in leak-free service now for over 250,000 cycles without a failure, or maintenance.

We know a lot about unusual and demanding applications. The exceptional accuracy and superior reliability of our axial valve technologies gets us involved in some real valving adventures. But we’re committed to helping our customers out of every demanding application they get themselves into.

FMX co-ax Valves

New FMX co-ax Valves for Industry from Anderson-Bolds

Since its foundation over 15 years ago, co-ax valves inc. has been the central core for parent company, müller co-ax ag’s cultivation of US partnerships — bringing its cutting edge valve expertise for the control of vacuums and gaseous, liquid, gelatinous, abrasive, contaminated and aggressive media, to the forefront of the American market. Today, müller co-ax ag continues to expand its international presence, providing customers and industries worldwide with the exceptional customer service focus that the company has maintained over its 50-year history.

New co-ax coaxial FMX Valves

co-ax FMX Coaxial Valve

co-ax FMX® valves are characterized by high flow rate with compact design and low weight. The externally controlled 2/2-way valve can be controlled via a 3/2-way pilot valve as well as a valve cluster. The pneumatic cylinder has three “T” grooves that can be used to add on accessories such as mounting brackets and limit switches. The FMX® valve series offers a manifold option as well; The inlet A-port on the 2/2-way valve is designed to be quickly and easily installed into the manifold strip.

The technology in the co-ax FMX series stands for higher flow rates compared to other valves. Or are you looking for compactness? COAX FMX valves occupy just a small installation space, while offering the same speed and quality.

The co-ax FMX series impresses with its small and compact size and extremely low weight. With an installation length of 110 mm, the FMX-2 just weighs 0.6 kg, while impressing with an unbeatable Kv value at the same time.

Due to the pressure-equalized design, the operating pressure of 16 bar remains unaffected by the control pressure. Hence, only one actuator size is required. The compact design allows a very low control air consumption compared to other valves.

By default, all components which are getting in contact with the media are made of stainless steel. Furthermore, high-quality sealing materials are used. The applications encompass media such as air, water, oils, fuels, neutral gases and much more.

The co-ax valves of the FMX-series have bi-directional flow. You are able to decide the direction in which your medium should flow, as the FMX valves are back pressure tight up to a max. of 16 bar.

You have to be able to rely completely on every single component in your system. The co-ax FMX series is something you install and will never see again — not because they are so small, but because they are absolutely robust and reliable, and hence have a high life expectancy.

As a connection variant, the proven bushing screw thread in accordance with DIN ISO 228-1 is available. Via a smart interface, it is possible to rapidly and straightforwardly integrate single valves into a valve manifold.

COAX FMX valves are externally operated 2/2-way valves which can be controlled via a 3/2-way pilot valve as well as via a valve terminal. The valves can be flexibly expanded later on with accessories such as mounting brackets and limit switches.
