The Robertshaw I-1284-P, Q, S & T Series Temperature Regulators are compact, self-contained and self-powered, three-way control valves especially adaptable to control of water and lubricating oil temperatures on internal combustion engines. The POWER PILL® element, located inside the poppet assembly, responds to the temperature of the medium surrounding it and provides the force necessary to position the poppet as the temperature of the liquid passing through the valve changes. Temperature regulation is achieved by the proportional action of the three-way valve which varies the amount of medium through or bypassing the cooler to maintain the desired temperature. Operation of the POWER PILL elements is unaffected by pressure changes in the system.

The POWER PILLS are factory-set for the specified control temperature and are not manually adjustable. By exchange of POWER PILL elements, the operating temperature may be changed in a very simple manner. Since all internal parts lift out with the valve bonnet, it is not necessary to remove the valve from the piping. The I-1284 series is equipped with a quick-acting manual operator which permits overriding the thermal element if and when abnormal load conditions are encountered in the system. 

Operation: With low temperature liquid surrounding the POWER PILL, the poppet is in the upward position which connects ports "E" and "B." As the temperature increases, the POWER PILL stem extends forcing the poppet downward. When the temperature reaches the control point of the regulator, the valve will be at mid-stroke. If the temperature continues to increase, the poppet will continue to move downward until the by-pass port (B) is completely closed off. 

On the Robertshaw I-1284 a manual crank is provided to override POWER PILL control. Turning the crank counterclockwise moves the poppet upward to close the "C" port. The "B" port may be closed by turning the crank clockwise. In event of power pill failure, the crank should be turned clockwise until the desired cooling is achieved. 

The Robertshaw I-1284 may be installed indoors or out, provided the liquid to be controlled does not freeze. Temperature regulators should be installed as near as possible to the unit being controlled, and a pipeline strainer should be installed upstream.

A compact version of the ATC 335 Timer, the ATC 355C is its exact functional duplicate, packaged in a 72 mm2 DIN-Size housing, it occupies 40% less panel space and costs proportionately less. Modern production and assembly techniques have all but eliminated hand wiring, enhancing the reliability and life expectancy of the ATC 355C.
COMPUTER TESTED RELIABILITY: The Solid-State ATC 355C is manufactured from a series of computer-tested plug-in circuit boards and assembled virtually without hand wiring. Because it has no moving parts in its logic circuits, its life expectancy is practically unlimited. Even the load relay — the 355C’s only significant mechanical component — has a life expectancy of 100,000,000 operations (no load). As a result, the Automatic Timing and Control 355C achieves an overall reliability that surpasses even the high level achieved by previous Shawnee timers.
CYCLE PROGRESS INDICATION: The Shawnee indicating 355C timer provides cycle progress indication on a four-digit display located immediately above the digital setting number wheels.
PLUG-IN AND DUST-TIGHT: All ATC 355C timers feature true plug-in design and can be replaced in seconds without disturbing the housing or disconnecting the wiring. The dial assembly is gasketed so that the timer body is dust-tight from the front of panel.
WIDE RANGE: Each ATC Shawnee 355C timer covers the overall span of 0.01 sec to 999.9 min in two field-convertible ranges. The 355C indicating timer also offers two additional field-convertible ranges of 0.1-999.9 sec or min.
EASY TO SET AT ALL TIMES: The Shawnee ATC timer is easily and accurately set even with work gloves on. Push any of its four toggle levers in any sequence until the number you want appears above it. You can decrease as well as increase each number by pushing the levers up or down. You can change the setting at any time, even during a cycle.
SAVE 40% IN PANEL SPACE AND COST: Packaged in a 72mm2 DIN-size housing, the ATC 355C occupies 40% less panel space than previous IC timers. Modern production and assembly techniques have substantially reduced manufacturing costs and resulted in a 45% cost saving.
OUTSTANDING REPEAT ACCURACY: Unsurpassed among industrial timers regardless of cost, the Shawnee has a repeat accuracy of ±10 milliseconds on any setting within its overall range of 999.9 min., even in the face of wide swings in temperature or voltage and regardless of the amount of reset time between cycles.
NOISE IMMUNITY: The ATC 355C does not have to be shielded: its transformer power supply, full-wave bridges, buffered logic and other design characteristics render it immune to the electrical noise that is encountered in typical industrial environments.
