Carlo Gavazzi's range of safety mats are available in various sizes and feature a mechanical life in excess of 1 million operations. As their name suggests, they used in conjunction with an external magnet - when the sensor approaches the magnet, the output from the sensor will change state. Typically these sensors will have a longer sensing distance than typical proximity sensors. As well, the output will be a mechanical contact. There are a wide variety of styles available including rectangular, cylindrical, and slotted. As well, special coded magnets and sensors are available for use in safety applications. Magnetic sensors are frequently used on elevators and lifts, gate control, level detection, and access control.

Carlo Gavazzi offers a complete range of safety switches. Cable safety switches are essential for the continuous control of a long line of machines or on conveyor systems. They guarantee the safety of the operator, who is able to immediately stop machinery by pulling on the wire.

Key type switches are used to prevent machinery from being started without

the key in place. Once the key is inserted, the machinery may be started. Hinge type switches operate when the arm has been moved a certain number of degrees. They are frequently used to stop machinery in the event a door or gate is opened.
With manual reset types, once the limit switch has been activated by the actuator arm, the switch may only be reset by pulling the blue rearm button. These types of switches are frequently used in mechanical and hydraulic hoists and lifts.

Carlo Gavazzi's range of safety modules includes modules for light curtains, safety mats, two hand control (anti-tie down device), magnetic and safety switches, and emergency stop. They are available with up to 3 force guided relay safety outputs and are suitable for use in applications up to category 4. Gavazzi also offer extension modules which are used in conjunction with our safety modules and allow you to increase the number of safety outputs. Gavazzi safety modules feature cUL and TUV approvals. Our modules are powered by 24 VAC/DC, 110 VAC, or 230 VAC and feature LED status indicators.

Carlo Gavazzi offers a range of motor controllers for soft starting/stopping, dynamic braking, and reversing of three phase squirrel cage motors. Applications include conveyor systems, pumps, compressors, industrial dryers, mixers, automatic doors, palletizers, and fans.
Gavazzi soft starters are available with a ramp characteristic suited to starting both compressors and pumps and furthermore, it includes a 'Kick-Start' feature to start loads with a higher break-away torque. Gavazzi soft start controllers feature internal bypass relays which eliminate the need for large external heatsinks. This minimizes the space requirements in your panel and also greatly reduces the heat generated.

Gavazzi also offer soft starters with built-in over temperature monitoring, thermal monitoring of motor via PTC sensor, and built-in overload protection (class 10 or class 20).

Carlo Gavazzi offers a comprehensive range of solid state relays (SSR’s) featuring direct copper bonding

technology for increased life and reliability. SSR’s are used extensively in the plastics, packaging, food processing, and HVAC industries - primarily for temperature control. They are the logical replacement for mercury contactors. Other applications include lighting and pump switching. Furthermore, many of Gavazzi's relays feature horsepower ratings making them suitable for controlling motorized dampers in HVAC control systems - where their long life and noise-free switching make them ideal replacements for mechanical contactors. Carlo Gavazzi’s UA Series ultrasonic sensors are designed for both distance measurement and object detection in tough environments. The range consists of both M18 and M30 housings. Discrete output types are available for presence and absence detection, and are ideally suited for detecting objects,such as transparent objects, that cannot be reliably detected by other sensors. Analog output types are available on our sensors for applications requiring a measurement of the target object, such as detecting the level of fluid in a tank. The analog models have your choice of 0-10 VDC or 4-20 mA outputs.
Gavazzi's more advanced ultrasonic sensor models incorporate teach functions, which allow the set-points to be configured with the push of a button, and via Windows-based software for applications where greater control of sensor parameters and variables is required. The Windows version also allows for settings to be saved and downloaded to multiple devices.

Menics has introduced a new tower light. this LED stack light utilizes one lens but can illuminate in three different colors, normally Red, Yellow, Green, but also, Red, Blue, Green. This reduces height of the light as well as cost as there is only one stack. A buzzer can be added to the stack for an audible alarm to go with the visual.

Tower lights, stack lights and machine lights are used for alarm and machine status indication. They can be supplied with audible alarms and be used as flashers or steady light configurations. The number of lights in a tower or stack can range from one to six, but sometimes even greater than six lights can be supplied. Lighting options for tower lights, stack lights and machine lights include lamps that are continuously on and lamps that flash at intervals. Mounting options available include pole mount, direct or base mount and wall mount.

Important electrical parameters to consider when specifying tower lights, stack lights and machine lights include DC voltage rating, AC voltage rating, power rating, and flashing rate. The DC voltage rating is the maximum DC voltage rating for the light. Similarly, the AC voltage rating is the rated AC voltage for the light. The power rating is the maximum power rating of the light. For tower lights, stack lights and machine lights, the flashing rate is the rate at which the product flashes. Note, however, that this is not applicable for continuous lights.

Tower lights, stack lights and machine lights may come with safety approval ratings. The maximum current or voltage rating for a product given by an approval organization may be different than the supplier’s designed maximums. In some cases, the product may be used safely at an unapproved level. Check with the supplier, however, for specific usage details. Features common to tower lights, stack lights and machine lights include audible alarms, manual operations and outdoors usage.

Tower lights, stack lights and machine lights can be supplied in a variety of colors. There is no specific standard in the U.S. regarding stack light colors. However, ANSI under B11.19 section E4.3.2.2.1 states "Due to lamp failure, visual awareness devices should use multiple lamps such as green for run and red for unsafe." What the exact meaning is of those colors on a stack light should be part of the documented operator and maintenance personnel training for that machine. Colors commonly available for tower lights, stack lights and machine lights include amber or orange, blue, clear, green, red, and yellow.
