CARLO GAVAZZI has launched the new CD34 Series liquid level capacitive sensors. The CD34 Series is designed to detect water-based liquids through non-metallic walls, i.e. plastic or glass. The sensors automatically account for the thickness of plastic or glass walls and compensate for any residual films, moisture or foam accumulation while reliably sensing the presence of the liquid to be detected. The sensor is packed with a universal bracket, which provides great mounting versatility for a variety of surfaces, circular (e.g. sight glass, round containers) or flat.
















CARLO GAVAZZI has unveiled two new single phase AC DIN-rail switch mode power supply families, in housings that are among the most compact available. These new additions to Carlo Gavazzi’s extensive lineup of power supplies include features and price points that are well-suited to a wide variety of markets and applications. The SPDM Series is a general purpose family with industry standard features in the most common output configurations. These smartly priced models are available in ranges from 30W up to 240W, in 12V and 24V outputs, and in housings that are up to 30% smaller than similar types on the market. The SPDC Series offers the highest level of features and performance, in slim metal housings. They feature efficiency levels above 90%, built-in Power Factor Correction, and can provide 150% power boost for up to 3 seconds, making them ideal for applications with high inrush currents. With built-in parallel function and an output ready relay, the SPDC Series helps ensure power is always available for critical functions. These advanced models are available in 120W, 240W, and 480W output versions.

















CARLO GAVAZZI unveiled the new DUB72 Series, a double under voltage monitoring relay that is approved for use in Class I Division 2 hazardous locations. This relay can be used to help prevent brownouts in 24 VDC supplied systems in any kind of application, including hazardous environments. The DUB72 features two independent set levels and outputs, which allow the use of one as a pre-alarm and the second one as an alarm. With a high powered electromechanical 20 amp relay, the second threshold / relay can be used to directly disconnect a battery or load. Its low-profile DIN housing can fit into electrical distribution panels as well as into industrial cabinets.

Carlo Gavazzi's patented Tripleshield™ Capacitive Sensors have become the standard all other manufacturers are measured against. All Tripleshield™ sensors are tested to withstand electrostatic discharges up to 40 KV, line transients up to 4 KV, and airborne noise (ie. cellular phones) up to 15 V/m. Furthermore, some models have built-in humidity compensation.
Capacitive proximity sensors will detect most materials - conductive and non-conductive. This makes them ideal for level detection in raw plastic delivery systems and in agricultural applications.

Carlo Gavazzi offers a comprehensive range of high quality limit switches perfectly suited for a wide variety of sensing applications. We offer a wide variety of actuating heads and numerous housing sizes in either plastic or metal. Connections are made via a 1/2 inch conduit entry. On request we also offer it with PG13.5, PG11, M20x1.5, or M16x1.5 conduit entry.
Various output configurations are available in slow and snap action. Many models also feature force break contacts. Limit switches are frequently used in position detection on doors and machinery and parts detection on conveyors and assembly lines.
Carlo Gavazzi offers a comprehensive range of magnetic sensors for use in proximity detection applications. As their name suggests, they used in conjunction with an external magnet - when the sensor approaches the magnet, the output from the sensor will change state.
Typically these sensors will have a longer sensing distance than typical proximity sensors. As well, the output will be a mechanical contact.
There are a wide variety of styles available including rectangular, cylindrical, and slotted. As well, special coded magnets and sensors are available for use in safety applications. Magnetic sensors are frequently used on elevators and lifts, gate control, level detection, and access control.

Carlo Gavazzi offers a large range of photoelectric sensors which are used extensively on packaging machinery, automatic door systems, and in car washes. Our sensors are available in diffuse reflective, background suppression, reto-reflective, polarized, through beam, clear object detection, and colour recognition.
Gavazzi also offer a range of fibre-optic type sensors for applications where a conventional sensor cannot be used (space restrictions, temperature, atmosphere).
Also included in Gavazzi's range are our VP series optical types. These are ideal for use in level applications. They are available in various housing materials which allow their use in various industrial cleaning solutions.

Carlo Gavazzi’s UA Series ultrasonic sensors are designed for both distance measurement and object detection in tough environments. The range consists of both M18 and M30 housings. Discrete output types are available for presence and absence detection, and are ideally suited for detecting objects,such as transparent objects, that cannot be reliably detected by other sensors. Analog output types are available on our sensors for applications requiring a measurement of the target object, such as detecting the level of fluid in a tank. The analog models have your choice of 0-10 VDC or 4-20 mA outputs.
Gavazzi's more advanced ultrasonic sensor models incorporate teach functions, which allow the set-points to be configured with the push of a button, and via Windows-based software for applications where greater control of sensor parameters and variables is required. The Windows version also allows for settings to be saved and downloaded to multiple devices.

Inductive Proximity Switches

When an application calls for detecting a metallic target that falls within an inch of the sensing surface, inductive proximity sensors are apt for the task. First introduced in the early 1960s, these durable components have proven their mettle in the sensing arena. In fact, they're the best-selling sensing technology in the world. Their immunity to dust and dirt buildup suits them well for harsh industrial environments. Additionally, the standardized physical and electrical characteristics of the general-purpose, cylindrical types of these sensors simplify their use.
An inductive proximity sensor has four components: the coil, oscillator, detection circuit, and output circuit. The target material, environment, and mounting restrictions all have an influence on these items and on the senor's operation, magnetic nature, and shielding. The oscillator generates a fluctuating, doughnut-shaped magnetic field around the winding of the coil, which is located in the device's sensing face. When a metal object moves into the sensor's field of detection, Eddy currents build up in the object, magnetically push back, and finally dampen the sensor's own oscillation field. The sensor's detection circuit monitors the amplitude of the oscillation and, when it becomes sufficiently damped, triggers the output circuitry.

There are five categories of inductive proximity sensors: cylindrical, rectangular, miniature, harsh environment, and special purpose. Cylindrical threaded-barrel sensors account for 70% of all inductive proximity sensor purchases. Years ago, this style's behavior was standardized by the CENELEC organization, which determined characteristics such as body size, sensing distances, and output levels.

Inductive Proximity switches can come in many shapes and sizes. The most common is a cylindrical switch or sensor, in 12, 18 or 30 mm. Other styles are flat pack, limit switch style, and slot. Switches normally sense from 2mm to 10 mm. Longer ranges can be used, but may need to be an unshielded switch.
