 The new Automatic Timing and Controls 175MD din rail mount multi-function timer series provides slim space saving design and 15 functions including on-delay, interval, signal off delay and asymmetrical repeat cycle. 

Packaged in a 17.5 mm housing with an 8 amp SPDT relay output contact configuration it can be easily configured via front keypad buttons with backlit display for time range (0 to 999 seconds / minutes / hours), time scale and mode setting and includes a universal supply voltage of 20-240 vac/dc (50/60Hz).

Fenwal 17000-0 Sereis THERMOSWITCHES

Anderson-Bolds Stocks Fenwal 17000-0 series Temperature switches.

NOTE: The Fenwal Brass THERMOSWITCHES have been discontinued.

The Replacement Stainless Steel Switches are still available.

Besides being Stainless Steel the switches have a temperature range of -100 to 600ºF.

The Brass switches went up to 400ºF. 

All other aspects are identical.

The Fenwal THERMOSWITCH developed by Dr. Wall and Mr. Fenn in the 1930's is still used to day for accurate Temperature control for commercial and industrial applications.  The THERMOSWITCH used the method of dis-similar metals to measure temperature. The outer shell and interior struts expand and contract at different rates and by use of a spring the switch can be adjusted to require more or less expansion for different temperature settings.

The Fenwal Series 17000-0 is a simple cartridge style thermostat, 5/8 inch in diameter and 3.72 inches long.
It is made of brass or stainless steel, the brass version has a range of -100 to 400F  and the Stainless Steel has a range of -100 to 600F.

The Fenwal 17000-0 series also has  the following versions:

Fenwal HEX Head style with a Hex nut and 1/2 inch NPT pipe thread mounting. 17100-0

The Stainless Version is 17102-0.

The Fenwal Block Head style for adding certain Modifications.  17200-0

The Stainless Version is 17202-0.

The Flange Mount with Block head for easy mounting.  17300-0

Process Ovens Over 40 years Old

Safety Updates for Older Ovens.

 
Most Process ovens made over 40 years ago did not include an excess temperature controller or separate heating element contactors to protect the oven from overheating if the main temperature controller or contactors fail.  Any ovens like this should not be used until this safety equipment is installed.  Failure to install this safety equipment could result in the oven overheating and a fire that could result in oven damage, loss of the product load, building damage and injury to personnel.
 
A field kit to add the excess temperature controller and separate contractors should be ordered from the MFG.

The excess temperature controller and separate contactors are now standard equipment on all Grieve ovens.  Also standard is a recirculating blower airflow safety switch to shut down the oven heat if the recirculating blower fails.  This is a pressure differential switch that senses the pressure created when the blower wheel is turning.  This switch protects the oven heating elements by preventing them from heating when air is not being recirculated over them.  A field kit for installation of the recirculating blower airflow safety switch should be purchased from the oven MFG.

When installing new safety equipment it can be a good idea to add other new electronics to the oven for better performance.  New electronics could be a digital temperature controller, programmable digital temperature controller, new thermocouples or a digital timer.  Grieve can provide a field kit to add a digital temperature controllers as well as and a field kit for a digital shut down timer. For electric Ovens new elements can be ordered as well along with pin and sleeve disconnect switches for added electrical safety for personnel. We can provide Gas meters for gas ovens to measure gas flow at the oven and shut the oven down in a dangerous situation.

Grieve's field kits include installation instructions, wiring diagram showing items to be removed, wiring diagram showing items to be added and revised wiring diagram for your records.  Our kits will be based on how the ovens were constructed when they left our factory.  If there have been changes made to the oven in the field they will not be included in our revised wiring diagram.   

Grieve will provide all parts except for standard wire, conduit and conduit fittings.  These items are better provided in the field as necessary to connect the components being added.  Conduit would only be required for the air flow safety switch as the other items are mounted in the oven control panel.

Please contact Anderson-Bolds with the oven serial number, job # and model number all of which can be found on the name plate of the oven.  We can also provide new wiring schematics for old ovens and instruction manuals.  Grieve and Anderson-Bolds want our products to be operated in the safest manner possible.

ATC 422AR Flip Flop Timer

Automatic Timing and Controls 422AR100S0X is a recycling Flip-Flop Timer that has on and off times.
The Series 422AR replaces the original 342 Flip Timer and the 422A flip/flop timer. All the ATC timers were capable of different on and off times making them a flip flop timer and not just a recycle timer which tends to have identical on and off times. The ATC 422AR TDR has ranges in seconds, minutes and hours and in each of these ranges you can select 1 second or 10 second, 1 minute or 10 minutes or 1 hour or 10 hours making 6 total ranges. The ON time can be in minutes while the OFF time in seconds, or the ON time in seconds and the OFF time in hours.

The 422AR is a 1/16 DiN timer with a 10 amp relay and plugs into an industry standard octal plug.  So changing an older 422A series to the newer 422AR100SOX timer is as simple and plugging the new one into the old one's socket.

Note that the 422AR is an analog set timer, not digital and it would be difficult to set both the on and off times to exactly the same value (it would be close though).

Use p/n 8258500 for surface/DIN rail socket for the 422AR timer.

Gas (Natural Gas or Propane) can be used for industrial ovens, heaters, autoclaves, furnaces and many other devices for creating heat for processing.  Jefferson 2030 Aluminum Valves are used for these applications as as well as air applications. The pressures are low and the minimum pressure can be 0 psi for operation. The Jefferson valves can have DIN coils or either NEMA 4 or NEMA 7 coil enclosures. NEMA 4 coils have the YC prefix and NEMA coils have the ZC prefix.

The Series 2030 Gas valves by Jefferson come in sizes from 1 inch to 2 inches and have Cvs from 14 to 50 for high flow burners.  The valve bodies are Aluminum.
