Parker's Fluid Control Division (FCD) has a long history in manufacturing industry leading steam and hot water valves. Parker has now expanded this offering to include Lead Free Brass valves (containing less than .25% lead) meting the SDWA, Section 1417 requirements for brass. The Parker valves are specifically designed to withstand harsh application conditions.  The steam valves have an integral Stainless Steel orifice for long life and durability.

The Valves come in 2 way operation and in either Normally closed or normally open. The Media is water, hot water or steam with valve sizing of 3/8, 1/2, 3/4 and 1 inch ports. The wetted parts are Lead Free Brass, 300/400 series Stainless Steel and copper and either PTFE or EPDM seals.
Depending on size and voltage type the pressure are from 70 to 275 and Cv's up to 12.2.  Water max temperature is 180 degrees F. and steam temperatures to 353 with Class H coils. Steam valves only come in AC voltages.
The standard coils are Nema 4 with a 1/2 inch conduit connection and 18 leads.  Optional coil is the DIN style plug in coil 43850A/ISO 440. Standard voltages are 24, 120 and 240 VAC and 12 and 24 VDC.

Parker valves, 204/209/304/309 Series

Parker Solenoid Valves

Parker Fluid Control Division, manufacturers of the Skinner and Gold Ring lines of solenoid valves and the Sinclair Collins line of process control valves, has introduced an integrated coil for its Series 204 and 304 solenoid valves. Featuring easy installation, the integrated coil is the latest in the division's list of flexible production options for these small yet powerful solenoid valves.

The patent-pending NEMA 4X coil with rotating conduit hub permits easy installation. The valve lines also include interchangeable AC and DC coils as well as a tab coil for flexible production possibilities. Both the Series 204 and 304 also feature a complete line of high-temperature watertight coil designs to meet the most demanding environmental conditions.

The Series 204 (two-way) and the Series 304 (three-way) are available as normally closed and normally open valves. Maximized flow rates are delivered through orifice sizes ranging from 1/32" to 5/32". Additionally, the valve line is manufactured with 1/8" port size (NPT) connections.

The new product lines offer a family of direct-acting solenoid valves for air and liquid (including light oil) applications. These valves meet virtually all of today's commercial, industrial, mobile, instrumentation and medical market needs. State-of-the-art performance characteristics ensure a long life and maximized pressure ratings. Economy models are available for less demanding applications.

The integrated coil has been evaluated by Underwriters Laboratories and complies with the RoHS (Restrictions of Hazardous Substances) standard under the European Directive 2002/95/EC.

Solenoid Valves

Solenoid Valves come in all shapes and sizes and all means of operation. For automation needs, the solenoid valve is the valve of choice.

This will be a brief discussion of the common solenoid valve used in industry today.

A solenoid valve is a combination of a valve body the allows a media to flow through it, water, air, oil and a coil that with a voltage applied energizes a magnetic coil to move a plunger that allows the valve to either open or close. Solenoid valves can be signaled by sensors within a plant via an electrical signal thus an operation can then be achieved.

Solenoid valves come in three basic styles, two way, three way and four way valves. The Two way valves have two ports, an inlet and outlet. The valves can be either normally open or normally closed.
Normally Closed is the more common style as it requires power to open and will close in a power failure.

Three way solenoid valves are designed for operating cylinders, air operated control valves and in some cases diverting flow between two directions. 3-way valves can come in normally open, normally closed and universal operation. Universal operation requires a direct acting valve, normally a small size valve, 1/8, 1/4 or 3/8 ports.

Four way valves are also designed for operating cylinders and valves and can have two solenoids on them, one for each of the two operations.

The valves can come in different body materials, stainless steel, brass, PVC, Teflon or other. The most common is brass and stainless steel. Seals can be Nitrile, viton, neoprene, or Teflon to name the most common. The different seals have different temperature properties and corrosion resistance.

Most solenoid valves come with a NEMA 4X coil, good for washdown and submersion in water. Also available are nema 7/9 or explosion proof and DIN style connections.
